WHEAT
From less than 8 very unsuccessful acres sown not long after the First Fleet landed in Australia, wheat has become Australia's most widely grown cereal crop, with more than 22 million tonnes produced in 2015-2016.
NUTRIENTS
Adequate nutrition is essential for plant growth and development, yield, and grain quality. Kidman Aviation works with farmers and agronomists to provide both macro and micro nutrients as the crop requires it.
Typically, nitrogen deficiencies require top-dressing of urea during tillering, stem elongation or head emergence. Micro nutrient deficiencies of copper, manganese and molybdenum can also occur and are generally sprayed with foliar fertilisers if it is deemed economically viable.
Stripe, Leaf and Stem Rust
Surviving on wheat, grasses and other cereals, rust disease is spread year round by wind, over long distances. Disease pressure is typically felt from stem elongation onwards. It is critical to control rust on the top two leaves after flag leaf emergence, as this time in the plant's lifecycle will most contribute to, or decrease, yield.

Kidman Aviation provides fungicide sprays throughout the wheat lifecycle, at times identified by the farmer and agronomist. Our aircraft are always correctly set to ensure the correct water volume, boom pressure and droplet sizes, providing for effective canopy penetration and even coverage.
