AERIAL SPRAYING 

Kidman Aviation provides aerial spraying services for the application of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, liquid foliar fertilisers, growth regulators and trace elements, including emulsifiable concentrates (EC) and ultra-low volume (ULV) work.

The potential of application targets to capture spray droplets greatly differs. Mature, well grown, leafy crops are highly efficient, however pastures and immature crops are less efficient. Through active communication with farmers and agronomists, Kidman Aviation provides procedural based spraying applications, formed on the targets collection ability, weather conditions, surrounding susceptible crops, beneficial insects, and the chemistry being applied.

We adhere to chemical label recommendations including temperature, wind and delta T. Configuration of nozzles, boom pressure and swath width occur before each application, and we use broad spectrum droplet sizes applied at almost any rate, specific to the application requirements.

Throughout the application, pilots vary spray methods to suit monitored weather conditions, humidity and wind direction. Spray release heights are chosen based on these factors to provide even coverage with the correct penetration, while minimising the risk of drift and striping.

AERIAL TOP DRESSING 

Pasture and crop fertilising requires a high degree of accuracy and uniformity in product dispersal. An even distribution across the swath is best achieved by using a spreader mounted beneath the hopper outlet, which is designed to offset the asymmetrical spread caused by the propeller’s slipstream. The forward momentum of the aircraft causes a forward velocity to heavy particles, which can travel a large distance before making contact with the ground. Strong gusts or wind increase the potential for off-site movement with the fines or dust in the product being applied. 

Kidman Aviation achieves accurate, streak free coverage to the boundary of the treatment area. We carefully plan each solids application and configure our aircraft to suit the weather conditions and target area. Pilots use procedural based application, assuring our clients will receive even coverage in flat, undulating or hilly country.

AERIAL SEEDING & SOWING 

Seed density varies widely between different species, and as a result requirements for application height and swath width vary considerably. For simultaneous spreading of multiple seed varieties with varying weights, Kidman Aviation uses specific system set-ups based on the seed varieties being combined.

Coupled with planes that are fitted with advanced technology to ensure accuracy, our pilots are experienced sowing rice, wheat, corn and cover crops, just to name a few.

VARIABLE RATE (VRT)

Rapidly changing weather patterns, increased pest and disease pressures and on-going nutritional requirements have farmers demanding increased efficiencies and revenue. Some prefer to do this by increasing their scale, others try to get better returns out of the land they have. We understand that this is a personal preference and have seen first-hand that both avenues can be successful.

VRT is rapidly becoming a preferred option in disease, pest and nutritional management programs. VRT utilises spatial maps to target crop or pasture inputs, rather than applying even coverage over whole paddocks. It can be used throughout pasture and crop lifecycles; maximizing profits through the efficiency of application and chemistry.

Kidman Aviation provides full and genuine VRT services (both liquid and solid product) with variable rates specific to the precise location and quality of the target area. Using spatial maps supplied by farmer’s agronomist or advisor, we directly upload maps into the plane’s advanced aerial guidance system allowing for easy and extremely accurate applications.

AERIAL BAITING

Rodent baiting assists in controlling invasive species that impact harvest yield and livestock profitability, due to the destruction of crops and land.

We recognise that a balance exists between the level of expected stock or crop profit, and the rodents impact on profitability. For this reason, Kidman Aviation ensures efficiency of application and understands the need for rapid response in times of increased pressure.
